She wants the organization to both investigate and respond to the recent cases of Acute Flaccid Myelitis.
AFM is a serious nervous system condition that causes patients' muscles to weaken and other polio-like symptoms.
Last week, the Minnesota Department of Health announced that AFM has infected six Minnesota children since mid-September. The CDC has acknowledged that 362 cases of AFM have been reported since 2014, indicating an increasing infection rate.
In a letter to the CDC, Senator Klobuchar asked the director to share their plan to address these infections. She has also requested a briefing for senators on the situation.
