Adults Accused of Neglect Miss Court, Child Remains in Foster Care

Posted: Updated:

ST. PETER, Minn. -- A man and a woman accused of child neglect in August failed to appear in court Tuesday.

Gregory Allan Wilson, 32, and Lynda Ruth Michel, 42, were charged with child neglect after allegedly dropping off Wilson's five-year-old in the woods on August 28 and leaving him there after he wet himself.

Wilson and Michel were set to appear in criminal court hearings Tuesday morning, but neither showed up, resulting in warrants for both of their arrests.

The two did appear in the afternoon for Wilson's custody hearing. There, he and child protective services agreed upon keeping the victim in foster care until the organization can properly assess the child's welfare at Wilson's home. Wilson's lawyer said he had been "very cooperative" in the process.

Wilson was booked in Nicollet County Jail afterward because of the warrant for his arrest. His next custody hearing will be Dec. 4 at 2 p.m.
