Posted: Updated:

Henderson, Minn.--The morning began with the 5K trail run followed by the 1K kid's dash.

After, there were family friendly events set up at two different sites at the center. It featured lot of hands on activities that could be enjoyed by anyone.
"Part of our mission is to get people interacting with the natural world and we are a site that involves a lot of history as well as nature and a lot of fun." said Josh Sweet, program coordinator at Ney Nature Center, "We see folks riding the wagons with their families. We see young students out in the petting zoo. People of all ages and families like to enjoy the event and I like seeing the smiles on everyone's faces when they're here and enjoying those events."

At the front of the park was a prairie maze, petting zoo, cornhusk doll making in the barn, pumpkin painting and fresh apple juice being made with a cider press. The tractor wagon carried visitors to the trail where they could see candle and butter making as well as a saw demonstration by the lookout over the valley.

Despite the chilly weather, many people turned out for the nature center's biggest event of the year.
