Pigs Killed In Semi Accident

Posted: Updated:

Authorities say thousands of dollars in pigs are lost after a semi rolls onto its side in Palo Alto County.
Authorities responded to the scene at the intersection of 280th Street and 480th Avenue around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Police say an investigation found the driver, 47-year-old Blaine Richardson was trying to turn south onto 480th Avenue when he failed to slow the vehicle to a reasonable speed, causing it to roll onto the passenger's side.
While police haven't released details on the exact number of pigs involved, they estimate the loss of livestock at $7500.
Estimated damage to the semi is around $75,000.
Richardson was cited for failing to reduce his speed to a reasonable rate, which is a simple misdemeanor.
